Changing the door seal: F1 to F2-70/60 XL
The door seal is the cheapest part with the biggest impact: For €11.31 per metre and 20 minutes of work, the door seals like on the first day – the smoker holds its temperature, the smoke stays inside. Changing it is purely a gluing job: remove the old seal, degrease the groove, pull in the new self-adhesive seal by the metre, press it on. No tools needed except scissors and cleaner.

Reading tip: Whether the seal is really to blame when the smoker weakens is clarified by the 6-step diagnosis – the seal is checkpoint 3 there.
Spotting wear: The hand test
With the smoker closed and warm, slowly run your hand along the door joint: Wherever you feel a warm draught or smell smoke, the seal is done. Visual signs: flattened areas that don't spring back, cracks, hardening or detached sections. The consequences of a tired seal add up – longer heating times, temperature loss in winter, smoke aroma that escapes instead of working, and higher energy consumption with every batch.

The change in four steps: 1. Pull off the old seal and dissolve adhesive residue with professional cleaner or spirit – the groove must be clean and grease-free, otherwise the new adhesive won't hold. 2. Apply the new seal dry, cut to length; place the joint at the bottom of the door, where it is neither noticeable nor draughty. 3. Peel off the protective film in sections and press the seal into the groove without pulling or stretching – stretched seals shrink back later and tear open at the joint. 4. Close the door and leave it shut for a few hours: The contact pressure allows the adhesive to set.
Why original seal by the metre: The Beelonia seal is designed for the temperature profile and groove dimensions of the F-series – universal seals from the DIY store are often too soft (they bake on) or too thick (the door doesn't close properly). At €11.31 per metre, it's not worth experimenting.
How much seal do I need?
Measure the door circumference and round up: For the F1 (door approx. 1 m high) it's around 3 metres, for the F2 and the 70 models correspondingly more – buying by the metre makes any length possible. Tip: order a spare metre right away; the seal hardly ages in storage, and it will be handy for the next change. The spare parts guide lists which other parts belong to the annual inspection.
Frequently asked questions about the door seal
Can the self-adhesive seal withstand the heat?
Yes – the original seal is designed for the operating temperatures of the F-series. The important thing is a clean, grease-free bonding; then it will last for years.
Can I replace just a section?
Possible, but not recommended – transitions between old and new rarely become tight. At €11.31/m, the complete surround is the cleaner solution.
Does the guide also apply to Smoky smokers?
The principle yes; dimensions and seal type differ depending on the model. If in doubt, send a photo of the type plate to the Beelonia service – they will send the right seal by the metre.
Reading tip: The seal is part of the annual care routine – the framework can be found in the cleaning guide.
