Spare parts for decades: Why old Beelonias keep running
The Beelonia service team is regularly contacted by customers with smokers that have been in use for decades – not as a curiosity, but as the norm. This is made possible by a manufacturing decision: the series remain dimensionally stable over generations, which is why current seals, grates, heaters and hooks also fit into old appliances. Repairing instead of throwing away isn't a marketing slogan here, but a design principle since 1880.

Reading tip: The practical path to the part – determining the model, ordering, replacing – is in the Spare parts guide. This article explains the why.
The principle: Dimensional stability as a promise
If you want to supply spare parts for decades, you can't sacrifice your dimensions to every model year – that's why the Smoky and F series change evolutionarily, never disruptively. Today's door fits into the frame from back then, the 2026 heating drawer into the 2006 smoker. Improvements – like the more robust full stainless steel heating coils or the smoke ignition with time relay – come as compatible modules, not as a system break. The result: a Beelonia smoker doesn't become obsolete, it gets maintained.

What this means in practice: The door seal (11.31 €/m), the heating coil (from 54.74 €), the grill grate (from 35.70 €), the gas burner (295.12 €) – all available individually, all ex works Beelen, much of it within days. For custom builds and very old appliances, a photo of the type plate is enough: because manufacturing is done on site, a custom-made seal or a special grate can also be created. The most expensive sentence of the throwaway economy – 'there are no parts for that anymore' – is never spoken here.
The calculation behind it: A V2A smoker is built once and then maintained with spare parts instead of being replaced. Customers with 30-year-old appliances have made exactly this calculation long ago.
Three typical lifespans of a Beelonia smoker
| Year | What happens | Costs |
|---|---|---|
| Year 1–8 | Operation, annual basic cleaning | Cleaner, dust |
| ~Year 8–12 | Replace door seal, possibly heating coil | 11–169 € |
| ~Year 15 | Heating module replacement or conversion to electric | 179–415 € |
| Year 20+ | Buy new grate/rods, keep smoking | from 5.36 € |
The total costs over 20 years are thus below the price of a single mid-range new appliance – with continuous use and without a break in operation and result. For the secondary market, this also means: used Beelonias hold their value because every deficit can be fixed.
Why this is rare in the market
Spare part capability costs: warehousing, dimensional fidelity, documentation of old years of construction – and it cannibalises new sales. A manufacturer who lives off container goods cannot and will not provide this. A family business that has known its customers for generations cannot do otherwise: the smoker the father bought should continue smoking with the son – and the service team knows both. Michael Vering describes exactly this attitude in the image film: 'We really respond to the wishes of the customers – that sets us apart.'
Reading tip: How the smokers that get so old are created is shown in the Factory report from Beelen; the material behind it is explained in V2A stainless steel (AISI 304).
