Beelonia fish hooks made of V2A stainless steel (AISI 304) as a basic accessory

The mandatory basic equipment for a smoker costs under €100: thermometer (€38.08), fish hooks (from €4.17), a bag of RÄUCHERGOLD (from €10.71) and – if not included – a grill grate (from €35.70). Everything else is an expansion as needed: cold smoke technology for winter projects, rain cap for outdoor setup, base frame for working height. The list is sorted by mandatory, useful and dispensable.

What's already in the box: Beelonia smokers come with rods, fish hooks and a sawdust or fat tray as standard – so the mandatory list shrinks depending on the model. The practical tip from the Smoky video for the fat tray: line it with aluminium foil or sprinkle in fine white bird sand – the fat is bound, nothing burns on.

A brief guide to hooks: Double hooks for trout and heavy fish from 500 g, 5-prong hooks for a secure hold behind the gills, meat hooks (aluminium, 120 mm) for ham and bacon – and S-hooks are unsuitable for fish because the lower jaw tears out in the heat.

Frequently asked questions about accessories

What do I need for the very first smoking session?

Only the mandatory list: thermometer, hooks, dust – plus salt for the brine from the supermarket. The rest grows with your projects; the order is shown in the Beginner's guide.

Do Beelonia hooks and grates fit in other brands' smokers?

Often yes – hooks are universal, grates are a matter of dimensions. The V2A stainless steel (AISI 304) quality is also worth it in a third-party smoker; dimensions are listed for every product in the shop.

Which accessory wears out the fastest?

None of them quickly – V2A stainless steel (AISI 304) hooks and grates last practically forever, only the door seal ages after years. The wear-and-tear perspective is covered in the Spare parts guide.
