F1 to F2-70/60 XL: Which F model for which need?
With five models, the F-series covers everything from a family smoker to club size: F1 (15–20 fish, from 1,035.30 €), F2 (30–35), F2-70 (45–60), F2-70/60 (65–80) and F2-70/60 XL (120–130 fish, from 2,698.92 €). All five are double-wall insulated, feature the interchangeable heating system (wood, gas, electric) and essentially differ in only one aspect: space. The bestsellers are the two large electric models – fully automatically controlled and built for both hot and cold smoke.

All five F-models at a glance
The rule of thumb: the number and suffix describe the chamber – F2 is taller than F1, '-70' is wider, '/60' is deeper, 'XL' is the tallest.
| Model | Capacity per batch | External dimensions (W×H×D) | Levels | Price from |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| F1 | 15–20 fish / 8–10 kg | 500×1000×400 mm | 3 | 1,035.30 € |
| F2 | 30–35 fish / 20–25 kg | 500×1500×400 mm | 5 | 1,401.82 € |
| F2-70 | 45–60 fish / 30–40 kg | 700×1500×400 mm | 5 | 1,799.28 € |
| F2-70/60 | 65–80 fish / 50–65 kg | 700×1500×600 mm | 5 | 2,262.19 € |
| F2-70/60 XL | 120–130 fish / 80–100 kg | 700×1800×600 mm | 7 | 2,698.92 € |

F1 and F2 – the family class. Both are 400 mm deep and fit on any patio. The F1 caters for 2–4 people; the F2, with a height of 1.5 m and five levels, offers enough hanging height for eel and ham – our advice for anyone who wants to start 'small' but knows their appetite will grow.
F2-70 and F2-70/60 – the frequent smokers. With a width of 700 mm, whole sides of salmon fit across, and the /60 depth almost doubles the volume. If you regularly smoke for the neighbourhood, colleagues or your farm shop, this is where you'll end up.
F2-70/60 XL – the club size. 1.8 m high, seven levels, 120–130 trout in one batch: the standard for fishing clubs and ambitious direct marketers, right before the professional class F4–F6-100 begins.
What has been improved on the bestsellers?
The electric versions of the F2-70/60 and XL have received three customer feedback updates: smoke ignition via push button with a time relay, brighter full stainless steel heating coils with a more robust alloy, and a centrally positioned ignition coil. The time relay puts an end to a typical operating error: beginners used to let the ignition coil run for 60 minutes using an egg timer – and the smoking dust burned away. Today, a push of a button is enough: the LED comes on, the coil ignites the dust, and it switches itself off.
The central ignition coil distributes the embers to both sides and delivers noticeably more smoke during hot smoking. For cold smoking, the included cold smoke insert is placed in the middle, and the dust is sprinkled around it in a U-shape – the slow-burn principle with little heat and hours of smoke. And the fan now has its own illuminated push button – important to know: The fan is only used for drying (e.g. trout after brining at 30 °C); it is switched off again before the smoking process.
How do I choose correctly? Three questions are enough
1. How many eaters? 2. Will long items hang in the smoker (eel, ham, sides of salmon)? 3. Do you want to cold smoke? For 2–4 people, the F1 is sufficient; for regular rounds of guests, the F2 is the starting point; sides of salmon and club quantities require the 70 width; and if you value comfortable cold smoking, go for the electric version with the cold smoke insert. As a general rule of thumb: Better to go one size larger – smokers that are too small are the most common reason for a second purchase.
Frequently asked questions about the F-model comparison
Can I run every F-model with wood, gas and electricity?
Yes – the interchangeable heating system is part of the entire series: electric heating (354.62 €), gas heating (415.31 €) or the 8 kW burner for the XL models (295.12 €) are swapped out as slide-in units. Details in the article on the Beelonia interchangeable system.
Which F-model is suitable for sides of salmon?
From F2-70 upwards: the 700 mm width comfortably accommodates whole sides – hanging on hooks or lying on the grate. In the 400 mm F1/F2, large sides have to be placed diagonally or cut in half.
Is the surcharge from the F2-70/60 to the XL worth it?
If you are dealing with club or sales quantities, yes: +436.73 € buys almost double the fish capacity and two additional levels. For private use, the F2-70/60 is usually the more sensible choice.
